John Parker reaches Chamber 20, and later Chamber 22, Wookey Hole.
1970 October Alan Erith is killed in Keld Head.
1971 February Paul Esser is killed in Porth yr Ogof.
1972 John Parker and Jeff Phillips pass Agen Allwedd Turkey sump 5 to discover 600 metres of new passage. They also make 450 metres of progress into the downstream sumps.
1973 Geoff Yeadon and Oliver Statham penetrate 104 metres into Boreham Sump 3.
1974 Martyn Farr and Roger Solari pass Boreham Sump 4.
1974 May Martyn Farr passes Agen Allwedd downstream sump 3.
1974 May Martyn Farr and Roger Solari explore Agen Allwedd sump 4. Roger Solari is killed when he fails to regain the surface.
1975 February Geoff Yeadon and Oliver Statham begin a systematic survey of Keld Head.
1975 July Alan Erith's body is located and recovered from Keld Head.
1976 February Geoff Yeadon and Oliver Statham reach Chamber 24, Wookey Hole.
1976 February Martyn Farr discovers Chamber 25, Wookey Hole.
1976 May Three cavers die in Langstroth pot, out of a party of six, while attempting to free dive the downstream sumps.
1976 August Oliver Statham's penetration of 838 metres into Keld Head is a new British record.
1977 June Martyn Farr reaches a depth of 45 metres in Wookey 26, a British record.
1978 February Jochen Hassenmeyer's penetration of 1006 metres into Keld Head is a new European record in a single sump. Difficulty with a low squeeze led to the well known 'Dead Man's Handshake' incident.
1978 Martyn Farr and Phil Rust discover 450 metres of passage during exploration beyond Mazeways, Dan yr Ogof.
1978 July Geoff Yeadon connects the line between Keld Head and Kingsdale Master Cave.
1979 January Geoff Yeadon and Oliver Statham make the through dive between Keld Head and Kingsdale Master Cave.
